Dirk Wiechmann Biography

Dirk Wiechmann graduated in Dental Medicine from Wilhelm University of Westphalia at Münster in 1990 and his career has had a highly impressive path since that date. He gained his specialist qualification in orofacial orthopaedics in 1997 and in the same year established his specialist practice in Bad Essen and also enrolled on the lingual orthodontics course at the University of Paris.

His successful completion of this training was rapidly followed by his becoming a Member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Lingual Orthodontics, a member of Faculty in the program DUOL (Diplôme universitaire en orthodontie linguale) at University of Paris, President of ESLO (European Society of Lingual Orthodontics) from 2000-2002 and then scientific director of DUOLG (Diplôme universitaire en orthodontie linguale) at University Paris in 2002. He received the Annual Award for Excellence of the German Orthodontic Society in 2003.

Since then he has become a Diplomate of the German Board of Orthodontics, co-editor of the specialized journal in orofacial orthopaedics, IOK (Informationen aus Orthodontie und Kieferorthopädie), a member of Faculty of the Orofacial Orthopaedic Unit of the Medical School at University of Hanover, a member of the Editorial Board of the journal “International Orthodontics” and in 2006, an Honorary Associate Professor at the faculty of dentistry at the University of Hong Kong.

He is now in tremendous demand as a course presenter around the world, teaching and demonstrating the Incognito system of individually customized lingual appliances, giving courses on other high-tec developments such as micro-screw implants and giving keynote lectures at national congresses including the British Orthodontic Conference.
