Axel Berens Biography
Dr Berens graduated in dentistry from the University of Münster in 1990 and again in medicine in 1997. During his medical studies, he also worked in the Institute of Anatomy, University of Münster for four years and included an internship in Sao Paulo, Brazil. From 1997 – 2001, he trained in the department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, University of Hanover, becoming a specialist in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in 2000. Since 2001 he has been in private practice in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Hanover.
Dr Berens has lectured widely and given numerous courses on Implantology and has worked closely with Dirk Wiechmann both clinically and in the teaching role. He has published on miniscrews as temporary anchorage devices in orthodontics including a recent article in the Journal of Orofacial Orthopedics on factors which influence survival rates of miniscrews.
