Course Outline 2015

Excellence in Orthodontics 2015 will take place on Saturday 25 April and Sunday 26 April 2015  at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 27 Sussex Place, London.

Excellence in Orthodontics 2014 took place on Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 April 2012 at the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, 27 Sussex Place, London. The RCOG pleasantly situated on the south-west edge of Regent's Park and has a new and impressive self-contained conference suite capable of holding 200 delegates.

Provisional Course Outline

The course is a lecture course and a provisional course outline is given below:

  • developments in contemporary orthodontics
  • indications for extractions
  • treatment planning: the teeth, the smile and the face
  • preferred bracket systems and prescriptions
  • understanding torque
  • biomechanics
  • anchorage including the use of miniscrew implants (TADS)
  • removable and fixed functional appliances
  • indirect precision bonding systems and the move towards custom appliance systems
  • digital orthodontics and intraoral scanning
  • bonding and debonding
  • orthodontic compliance
  • archwire technology, archform
  • impacted canines
  • management of difficult malocclusion including unerupted teeth, anterior open bites,  and class II division 2 and class III malocclusions
  • finishing
  • retention philosophies and techniques
